For our Good Friday service, we looked at the moment when the crowd was offered two men named Jesus: one who was innocent yet found guilty, and the other guilty yet set free. In Matthew 27, the guilty walks free while the righteous is condemned, giving us one of the clearest pictures of substitution in all of Scripture. Barabbas becomes the mirror in which we see ourselves, and Jesus becomes the Savior who takes our place.
